Rejoice Apple Fans! Now you’ve got another target and that too a fresh one! If you are still not sure that what it is, for you information it will be called Windows 7. Now you can go ahead and target the UI of Windows 7 and claim that it is a blatant copy of OS X and so on!
However, even I was little surprised to find the real truth! Well, I’ve been using Windows from the time of Windows 3.1 so I’m really not sure about what was present in Windows 1.01, however the article was written by Ed Bott and that’s more than enough for me to believe.
Ironically, the company with the most right to complain about UI ripoffs is Microsoft itself. In a presentation at PDC yesterday, Microsoft Senior Program Manager Chaitanya Sareen traced the lineage of those big taskbar buttons back to Windows 1.01, which was released in 1985. Desktop gadgets? Those were a key part of IE4’s Active Desktop in 1997.
Well, now its up to Apple users to accept the bitter truth or rather still use various social media channels like Digg, Reddit to engrave in the head’s of various teenagers that it is Microsoft who does all the evil!
How does that tone sound? Very Microsoft fan type, isn’t it? Well I’m no fan of Microsoft (I am writing this on a Macbook) or Apple (the blog is about Windows 7) or any other specific software or OS. I believe that every software, OS can take and learn from the competition, so what’s the hype about it. At the end of the day, its consumer which getting the benefit and that’s you!
